Gun Rights - Links

My stance on the right to bear arms is that most people in most countries should have the right to defend themselves as long as firearms ownership is regulated effectively. This includes the types of firearms that should be available to the general public, pistols, revolvers, shotguns and rifles I believe are acceptable. However, automatic weapons such as sub machine guns and automatic rifles which are designed and used for warfare should not be made available to ordinary citizens for the obvious reason that the only use for these types of weapons is to engage in mass murder.
I think 'banning guns' altogether, which many people are screaming for to happen, is not an effective way to solve the controversial problem of gun violence in countries like America, which is often in the limelight on account of the number of recent shootings in public places such as schools and movie theaters. I believe this action will not only do nothing to solve the problem, as unregistered firearms are constantly being moved into the country and purchased on the black market anyway, but will also take away the honest citizen's  right to defend themselves from potential home invasions and people who would intentionally harm them for some kind of personal gain.
